Mama Fu’s signs Pittsburgh development deal

August 29, 2010

Mama Fu's has signed a three-unit area development agreement for its first locations in Pittsburgh, Pa. The first Mama Fu's location is slated to open during the first quarter in 2011, followed by another location three months later.

Michigan-based Shaw Concepts LLC will lead Mama Fu’s Pittsburgh expansion. Shaw is comprised of the husband and wife team of Mark and Lisa Shaw, who have successfully opened and operated two Melting Pot franchises.

The signed agreement, targeting Pittsburgh as well as greater Allegheny & Butler counties, is part of an aggressive national expansion plan calling for 150 restaurants in the next five years.

“It’s a tremendous time for us as we build on our brand’s success and sign our first area development agreement in Pittsburgh,” said Randy Murphy, president and CEO of Mama Fu’s. “Like all groups we strive to partner with, our newest franchise partners opening Pittsburgh are well experienced in the restaurant business and we are excited to help them grow Mama Fu’s through the Midwest.”

With 13 locations successfully operating throughout Arkansas, Florida, North Carolina and Texas, the signed agreement will bring the first Mama Fu’s franchised locations to the Pennsylvania market.
