QSRs, Pizza restaurants get competition from Mexican chain's delivery service

May 27, 2016

In hopes of competing with fast food chains, On The Border Mexican Grill and Cantina has partnered with DoorDash in several US markets to provide on-demand delivery of the restaurant's menu items. The initial launch area includes the eight major metro areas of Dallas/Fort Worth, Atlanta, Columbus, Denver, Boston, Chicago, Phoenix and Indianapolis, according to a news release.

"Not everyone has the time to come out to an On The Border location near them," said the chain’s Chief Marketing Officer Ashley Zickefoose. "Offering home delivery is a solution we're excited to be able to provide."

Home delivery is available in those initial markets of all menu items at On the Border restaurants during their normal business hours. A news release said the restaurant will also deliver party platters to homes and businesses.

"It's as simple as a tap on the DoorDash app or click on the DoorDash website to have a Party Platter or other custom orders brought right to them," Zickefoose added.

DoorDash delivers within an hour of the order unless specified for another  time, according to a news release. Items can be ordered through the DoorDash website or app.

On the Border has more than 150 locations in 34 states as well as Puerto Rico, Asia and the Middle East, although home delivery was only announced for the US market.
