Le Boulanger Café & Bakery, a San Francisco-based French bakery recently bought by Starbucks, is now offering mobile ordering and mobile payments.
The mobile ordering apps, developed exclusively for Le Boulanger by OLO, allow guests to order brunch, lunch, sweets and more directly from their smartphone, where they can also view and order from the bakery's full menu, repeat previous orders, pay securely using a credit card, and confirm time and date of pick-up. Guests who order through the app can also skip waiting in line.
"We are excited to begin offering this added convenience to our customers," said JP Lachance, vice president of finance for Bay Bread. "The new mobile ordering and payment apps give our long-time customers a new, more convenient way to experience their favorite morning or lunchtime treats."
Le Boulanger joins a growing number of restaurants offering mobile ordering and mobile payments apps. With smartphone ownership growing at a rate of more than 30 percent each year, OLO Founder and CEO Noah Glass considers mobile ordering apps to be the new frontier for quick-serve and fast casual restaurants.
"Mobile ordering and mobile payments are growing at a rate that is 10 times faster than online ordering, the fastest growth channel for most chains," he said. "In order to win market share and increase customer loyalty, we believe mobile apps are a must-have for our clients."
