Kitchen United, a virtual restaurant startup, recently closed a $10 million Series A funding round led by Google Ventures, according to a press release.
The company houses 10 to 20 restaurants in "Kitchen Centers," with locations determined by demographic data. As part of the investment, Adam Ghobarah, general partner at Google Ventures, will join the company's board of directors, according to a press release.
Kitchen United uses opt-in consumer data and operational data to help restaurants design their menus. The company will use the funding to open additional facilities in New York City, Los Angeles, Atlanta and other cities by the end of 2019.
"Kitchen United's data-driven approach to flexible kitchen spaces unlocks critical value for national, regional, and local restaurant chains looking to expand into new markets," Ghobarah said in the release. "The founding team’s experience in scaling — in addition to diverse exposure to national chains, regional brands, regional franchises and small upstart eateries — puts Kitchen United in a strong position to accelerate food innovation. Delivery networks have created new possibilities for food entrepreneurs, and we see significant investment opportunities in this ecosystem."
