Cereal cafe bowls over Big Apple

June 30, 2016

New York City is adding some cereal to its diet. According to a company press release, Kellogg's NYC will open on Monday, July 4, and will become Kellogg's first permanent café in the world. It will be located at 1600 Broadway (between W 48th and 49thStreet). The café will serve dishes featuring Kellogg's cereals combined with unique ingredients, fashioned by some of the most interesting personalities in the food industry today.

Kellogg's has partnered with Anthony Rudolf and Sandra Di Capua of Journee and formerly of Thomas Keller Restaurant Group and Eleven Madison Park respectively.

"Kellogg's NYC will remind families how fun and delicious cereal is, especially when elevated with creative ingredients," Rudolf said in the report. "We'll give guests a chance to experience cereal, something they've been connected to their entire lives, in a completely new way."

According to the report, award-winning chef Christina Tosi was commissioned to develop some of the café's menu items using such unique ingredients as lime zest, marshmallows and blueberry jam.

"I've been a cereal lover since I was a kid," said Tosi. "I believe in the excitement a bowl of cereal can bring any time of the day and I'm so excited to bring back a household staple in a fun, creative way."
