Johnny Rockets has announced the opening of its second restaurant in Honduras, located in San Pedro Sula. Increasing the chain's Central American footprint, the new restaurant is operated by franchise owner Maria Eugenia Handal Canahuati of Desarrollos Gastronomicos Internacionales Corporation. Handal Canahuati now operates three Johnny Rockets restaurants, including Honduras’ first Johnny Rockets in Tegucigalpa, and an additional restaurant in Costa Rica.
"Central America continues to be a focus for growth and development as Johnny Rockets continues its global expansion in Latin America and throughout the world. With this second location in Honduras and similar success in Costa Rica, we are well-positioned to support Johnny Rockets' growth in other Central American countries, including Guatemala, Panama and more," explained Scott Chorna, SVP of International Development. "Desarrollos Gastronomicos continues to be an important partner as we grow in this region and we look forward to supporting Maria and her team while we continue to grow in Honduras and Costa Rica."
The new Honduran restaurant is located in the heart of San Pedro Sula on Boulevard Morazan. It boasts more than 3000 square feet and has nearly 100 employees.
Johnny Rockets reports that it hopes to build on the momentum of this second opening to expand its footprint to other cities throughout the country, as well as throughout Latin America. Johnny Rockets franchise partners currently operate more than 100 restaurants outside the U.S. today; the company plans to double that number by 2017 as part of its global strategy.
