Jamba Juice gets boost from Quaker Oats

August 2, 2013

Jamba Juice customers can now add an easy-to-blend version of whole grain Quaker Oats as a boost to any of their drinks. The Quaker boost, available for 25 cents, delivers at least 16 grams, or one full serving of whole grains, said Jamba Chairman, President and CEO James D. White.

"We're pleased to enter into a product development partnership with an innovative partner like Quaker and launch our first project together," he said. "Jamba and Quaker both support healthy living and offer better-for-you products and programs for consumers. This will be a major step forward in our mutual mission of developing and offering innovative snack or meal solutions and helping fuel healthy families."

Americans continue to fall short of getting the whole grains nutrition experts recommend. The 2010 U.S. Dietary Guidelines recommend that at least half of all grains consumed be whole, yet less than 15 percent of people get the 3-5 minimum daily servings. In addition to fiber, whole grains provide a number of essential vitamins and nutrients, and eating the recommended amount each day as part of a diet low in saturated fat and cholesterol can help reduce the risk of developing heart disease, and may contribute to maintaining a healthy weight.

"As the leader in oats, it's imperative we continue to develop new and transformative ways for people to enjoy whole grains, which play an essential role promoting overall health," said Jose Luis Prado, president, Quaker Foods North America. "This not only includes developing breakthrough, oat-based products, but also working with critical partners like Jamba Juice to broaden oats accessibility. We're excited to align with them on this project."
