Is 'girls' sweat-flavored' chicken a thing?

August 1, 2017

Fast casuals are known for leading the way when it comes to creating unique flavor profiles, but a Japanese fried chicken QSR may have just stolen the reputation with its latest flavor — "girls' sweat-flavored sauce." Tenka Torimasu, which has a handful of unis mostly in Tokyo, specializes in boneless Japanese-style fried chicken chunks, called karaage. According to rocketnews, it's a specialty that depends on an assortment of sauces to amp up the flavor through spicy mixtures like wasabi mayonnaise and cheese curry, but apparently, those were a little too blasé, inspiring the chain to launch its girls' sweat-flavored sauce.

The flavor is not just "generic "girl-next-door" sweat flavor, however. It's that of young rock idol members of a popular music group, Kamen Joshi, who perform in hockey masks, a la the "Friday the 13th" movies.

This, said one of the group's members, is "the birth of the karaage people have been dreaming about."

The flavor, however, doesn't pass the fast casual trend of using "real" ingredients because the report said that the flavor isn't actually made with real rock idol sweat. Instead, it's inspired by cheese, salt and lemon juice. If you're using U.S. dollars for a sample of this LTO, you'll need $3.60, and you'll need to get to Japan by Halloween when girls' sweat will be all back on their bodies.
