Giardino taps SCS to manage supply chain

August 1, 2013

Supply Chain Services is now Giardino Gourmet Salad's provider of supply chain management services.

Giardino, recognized by FastCasual.com as one of the top fast casual concepts this year, has tapped SCS to develop a customized supply chain strategy for the brand, as well as provide day-to-day management of the chain's food, packaging and smallwares purchasing and distribution activities.

"Our partnership with SCS will help us improve the unit economics of our restaurant concept; driving lower food costs and helping us deliver higher profitability for our operators," said Kenny Lugo of Giardino.

The agreement between the two companies reflects the old adage that one should let the experts do what they do best, Lugo said. In this case, SCS will manage supply chain, while the team at Giardino's can focus on growing the brand by delivering quality fresh food through its unique style of restaurants and products.

"Our shared savings model is a compelling option for our clients," said SCS General Manager Steve Pattison. "As their purchasing agency of record, we provide professional supply chain management and our fee is a share of the savings we generate. Clients do not have to pay out-of-pocket for our services. It's a win-win situation."
