Genghis Grill donated $2,500 to the Mira Mesa Football Booster Club this month, just in time to get the Marauders' varsity team suited up for the 2014-2015 season.

The gift was used to buy additional helmets after the Mira Mesa, located in San Diego, came to the realization they were in need of more before the first game of the season.

"Genghis Grill literally saved our season, and not a moment too soon," said Mira Mesa Head Coach Gary Blevins in a press release from Genghis Grill. "In case you didn't know, helmets are kind of a necessity when it comes to playing high school football. Thanks to their generosity and the quality equipment we were able to acquire, our players are looking forward to another year of hard-hitting Marauder football."

Along with the helmet donation, Genghis Grill will also sponsor Marauder home games during the season with "The Genghis Goal." During halftime at selected games, one lucky senior will get the chance to win a $250 college scholarship by successfully kicking a short field goal. Those who miss will also still receive a $100 scholarship.

"All of us at Genghis Grill are pumped for the upcoming football season, especially watching our high school teams here in San Diego. So when we heard about Mira Mesa's predicament, we jumped at the prospect of helping them out," said local franchise owner Paco Patel. "Now that they have their helmets, we're looking forward to cheering on the team and serving the students and families at Mira Mesa High for years to come."
