Pilot Flying J, a gas station and convenience store with more than 650 units, has opened a fast casual dining concept inside one of its locations in St. Marys, Ga., and the chain plans to open 11 more by the end of the year, according to cspnet.com.
The new restaurant, which does not yet have a name, serves the chain's premium coffee and cappuccino, along with hot soups, homestyle platters, breakfast items, fresh-made salads and cold sandwiches, a frozen yogurt bar, pizza and hot dogs, in an effort to meet the growing needs of motorists, said Pilot Flying J CEO Jimmy Haslam.
"We listen to customer feedback, and customers want more dining options on the road," he said in the story. "Our new dining concept delivers more food options that are fresh, healthy and quick. Drivers will enjoy quality 'grab-and-go' choices as well as an opportunity to sit down, rest and enjoy a variety of hot, home-style meals. We're looking forward to hearing how customers in St. Marys are enjoying the new dining option in town."
