Freshii has partnered with Free The Children by launching the Green Bowl initiative to help feed the 66 million primary school-aged children who attend classes hungry across the developing world, according to a company press release.
The Green Bowl initiative aims to combat hunger by donating sales from Freshii's $5-limited edition, re-usable bowls. The money will go toward developing school kitchens and vegetable gardens overseas to provide healthy meals to students every day. Each kitchen and garden built will provide about 500 students with a nutritious lunch, so they can concentrate on learning — not hunger, said Freshii's CEO, Matthew Corrin.
The official launch kicked off this week with a 3 Km run down Yonge Street in Toronto, and Michigan Avenue in Chicago. Runners included Corrin and Free The Children's co-founder, Marc Kielburger.
