Freebirds marks USC opening

In the days leading up to the opening of the new USC restaurant, FREEBIRDS World Burrito and its charitable arm, FREEBIRDS World Works, is partnering with several community organizations for pre-opening events that are open to the public.
The events include:
- Tuesday, January 11, 2011, FREEBIRDS will partner with The Art of Elysium from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. and again at 5 p.m. – 7 p.m. The first 250 guests during both time slots can have complimentary food and drinks in exchange for a $5 donation to The Art of Elysium, a non-profit organization that encourages working actors, artists and musicians to volunteer their time and talent to children who are battling serious medical conditions.
- Wednesday, January 12, 2011, FREEBIRDS will partner with the Union Rescue Mission from 11 a.m.–1 p.m. The first 250 people to make a $5 donation will receive a complimentary lunch. The effort will help provide support for people experiencing homelessness.
Local resident and restaurant veteran Russell Platoff will manage the new FREEBIRDS restaurant, which will employ approximately 100 team members from the local community.
The company also recently announced its further expansion into California through its commitment to open 16 locations there.
