FREEBIRDS helping guests create 500-calorie meals

In an effort to inspire customers to eat healthier, FREEBIRDS World Burrito has announced Carpe 500, a microsite with a calorie counter that helps guests build burritos, burrito bowls, salads and nachos for under 500 calories. It is available at carpe500.freebirds.com.

The site also gives users a chance to win one of 500 free burritos when they share their "build" with their Facebook friends.

"People don't realize that eating at a fast casual burrito joint can be healthy and taste fantastic," said FREEBIRDS President Jim Mizes. "We have low carb, low fat, vegetarian, you name it. All of our beans and chips are 100-percent vegan, and we offer several gluten-free items including chips, tortillas, beans, salsas, sauces and rice."

The Carpe 500 contest will run through the end of January.
