Four years after start-up, Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers has signed its first franchise agreement for a mall-based location in Mall St. Matthew's in Louisville, Ky. The first franchise store will also serve the concept's full menu, according to a news release.
"We're excited about this location not just because it's the first franchise, but because we think this will be a great example of how versatile the Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers brand will be," President and founder Brent Skaggs said in the release. "This concept easily adapts to free standing locations, strip center units and concession style store fronts for malls, airports and other large venues."
The concept also is looking for franchise opportunities throughout the Bluegrass State, including the Northern Kentucky area and Cincinnati. Freakin' Unbelievable Burgers was named No. 12 on Fast Casual's 2013 Top 100 Movers and Shakers list. Its first location opened in Michigan in 2012.
