Former Starbucks CEO Howard Schultz's presidential plans are on hold — at least for now — according to the Huffington Post, which reported that he told his staff Wednesday that he needed time off to heal from multiple surguries.
He also sent an email to his supporters.
"While I was in Arizona, I unfortunately experienced acute back pain that required me to cut my travels short," he wrote in the email obtained by the Post. "Over the following two months, I underwent three separate back surgeries. Today, I am feeling much better, and my doctors foresee a full recovery so long as I rest and rehabilitate. I have decided to take the summer to do just that."
Schultz has been contemplating an independent presidential run since last year. Wednesday's statement said he'd be "In touch after Labor Day," but specifiy if he'd still be in the race for the White House.
