TROY, Ohio, Oct 03, 2005 /PRNewswire via COMTEX/ -- Members of the Foodservice Consultants Society International (FCSI) Association have voted Hobart the 2005 Manufacturer of the Year, FCSI announced at its Annual Conference in Anaheim, California.

The honor marks the third time in six years that the FCSI has recognized Hobart with a major award. In 1999, FCSI awarded Hobart's 2000-Series Slicer with the prestigious Distinguished Development Award. In 2003, Hobart earned the Association's Honorable Mention for Manufacturer of the Year, the only company to receive the distinction.

"To be selected by this organization as the Manufacturer of the Year is a great honor for our company," said Richard Hynes, Hobart Consultant Services Group. "This award means a great deal to our Engineering, Marketing and Selling Teams. It tells us that FCSI believes we are developing the right products for their clients' needs and providing the services that they and their clients require. This award is re-affirmation of our efforts and we look forward to trying to earn it again in the future."

Hobart Foodservice President John McDonough added that the award is validation of Hobart's focus on its customers. "Our product development begins with the customer. We spend a great deal of time asking our customers for input, whether they're a consultant, a K-12 or other non-commercial foodservice director, an independent restaurant owner or a major chain. The problems they're trying to solve drive nearly everything we do, and we're committed to delivering the products and services that help address those problems including food safety, cost management, labor/productivity and product shrink."

Cost management and food safety were the major criteria in Hobart's development of the industry-leading Opti-Rinse(TM) System for its C-Line and FT900 warewashers. The exclusive nozzle technology cuts water and energy consumption by up to 57 percent when compared to previous conventional brass or stainless steel nozzles. The new Hobart Opti-Rinse System nozzles create a stream of large water drops that oscillate back and forth in an S-pattern as it leaves the nozzle. The key to this new system is the larger drops of water that are created and the dramatic improvement in heat transfer they provide. The result is a more uniform coverage and a more forceful stream of water. Standard fan-spray nozzles cause water to lose heat faster because the water droplets are smaller resulting in greater heat loss to the surrounding air.

Hobart also recently introduced the new AM Select door-type warewasher, the first standard-size machine to be NSF International-certified for heavily soiled pots and pans. This certification means that pots and pans can be washed automatically instead of being scrubbed by hand. Less time spent soaking, scraping and scrubbing means less employee turnover and more money to the bottom line.

Hobart also expanded its Legacy line of mixers in 2005 to include a 12 and 20 quart model. The Legacy mixer represents the most significant design change in mixers in the last 50 years. The new Legacy features several major improvements that improve labor productivity, ergonomics and help ensure sanitation. The mixers include Hobart's exclusive swing-out bowl, single-point bowl installation, power lift or improved bowl lift depending on mixer size, quick release agitators and scraper, intuitive Smart(TM) Timer controls, stir speed, shift on the fly, Soft Start, easy to clean design and a new motor designed for greater torque at low speeds, energy efficiency and better immunity to temperature extremes.
