Firehouse Subs recognizes October as Fire Safety Month

October 3, 2010

Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation is kicking off October's Fire Safety Month by passing out fire safety tips to ensure each family has an emergency plan. Fire Safety Month also is an opportunity for communities to support their local heroes through the purchase of medallions for $1 or $5.

These funds help provide much-needed lifesaving equipment to public safety entities and provide education through distribution of fire safety prevention tools. The Firehouse Subs founders' 200 years of firefighting heritage inspired the formation of Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation in 2005 to improve life-saving capabilities of fire, police and EMS.

“Fire Safety Month is a great time to raise awareness, as well as funds, for first responders who are dedicated to saving lives. This is an opportunity to show your support and appreciation for these brave men and women,” said Robin Peters, executive director of the Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation. “Through donations raised in our restaurants, we have given more than $2 million in lifesaving equipment to fire and police departments across the country. We hope to raise a record amount this October, to give back to our communities.”

The Foundation’s funds for equipment are raised through individual donations, pickle bucket sales and canisters placed by registers.
