August 11, 2009
The Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation has donated $12,500 worth of lifesaving equipment to the Round Rock, Texas, Fire Department, according to a storyin the Community Impact newspaper in Austin, Texas.
The foundation donated one RAE monitor gas detector and 10 sets of EZ-IO drills. The gas detectors enable first responders to monitor multiple atmospheres at a scene for hazardous gases, and the EZ-IO drills provide responders a way to administer medications when an IV is inaccessible in cardiac arrest patients.
Firehouse Subs created the non-profit Firehouse Subs Public Safety Foundation Inc. in 2005 to provide funding, resources and support to public safety entities. The foundation has donated more than $1.25 million in equipment and resources over the past two years.
The foundation raises money through individual donations, canisters placed by registers and by selling leftover 5-gallon pickle buckets.
