Fast Casual seeks Top 100 nominations for 2009 movers and shakers

November 23, 2009

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — FastCasual.comis calling for nominations for its annual Top 100 Movers & Shakers. The ideal nomination will be a restaurant brand, executive, food trend or technology that has influenced the fast casual segment during 2009.

"Fast casual restaurants continued to perform well during a tough economic environment and we want to showcase the segment's top movers and shakers. That is why we have opened up this year's list to include the people, food trends and technology that have helped shaped the segment in 2009," said Paul Barron, publisher of FastCasual.com. "We're asking for reader input to help us understand what it takes to make this year's list."

Due to the economic struggles the restaurant industry has faced in 2009, some brands will fall off the list while others likely will move up in the rankings. We also are adding several mover and shaker sub-catories such as Seven Up, which will highlight the top seven beverage brands, and the Sweet 16, featuring the top dessert and frozen yogurt concepts.

Last year's No. 1Fast Casual Mover and Shaker was Au Bon Pain.
