November 19, 2007
RIVERSIDE, Calif. — Farmer Boys Restaurants has announced it will be transitioning its restaurants to a zero-trans-fat-per-serving frying oil over the next few months. The restaurant chain expects to roll out the new frying oil to all locations by the beginning of 2008.
"Our testing procedures, in a variety of locations, showed that our guests felt items fried in the new oil tasted the same or better than before," said Ken Clark, president of Farmer Boys. "The new oil will allow us to serve the flavor and quality our guests have come to expect in a healthier manner."
Made fresh from scratch items, such as Farmer Boys hand-cut and hand-battered onion rings and zucchini, will now be prepared in the new oil.Farmer Boys has partnered with Cargill as its supplier of cooking oils to switch to a zero-trans-fat-per-serving line of cooking oils.
