Ex FOCUS Brands exec to open 6 Tropical Smoothie Cafe units

Tropical Smoothie Café will open in Snellville on Aug. 19 under the leadership of the former president of FOCUS Brands International, Michael Shattuck, according to a press release.

"I am a strong proponent of the franchise business model and believe in the power of a group of driven individuals focused on the development of a brand," Shattuck said in the release. "Tropical Smoothie has a great product, strong positioning and a value system I believe in."

Shattuck plans to open another five locations in Gwinnett County, and hopes to benefit two local organizations (Youth Subsidized Work Experience Program and Briggs & Associates) which help people find jobs, according to the release.

"I view this as an opportunity to give back by sharing what I've learned through the decades with a whole new generation of people working in food service," he said.
