Aroma Espresso Bar, which has 10 U.S. locations, has added MyCheck's restaurant checkout app to its New York and New Jersey stores, allowing patrons to pay and manage loyalty benefits through their smartphone. Users who check into a participating location get a four-digit code, which the cashier enters into the restaurant's point-of-sale system. An email receipt is then generated.
Upon initial check-in, users are invited to join the company's loyalty program, and are offered a free cup of coffee as an incentive. The program offers another free cup after the purchase of 12 cups, with the app automatically keeping tabs on purchases.
"MyCheck provides two main benefits for us: a faster experience at checkout because the payment is automatically captured, and a more assured way of managing our loyalty program," Gil Kiryati, CEO of Aroma U.S., said in a news release. "We are excited to offer special promotions to our most loyal customers and track redemptions accordingly."
MyCheck U.S. CEO Tal Nathanel said the free MyCheck app works various environments, from Michelin-rated restaurants to coffee shops and gastropubs. "This gives our users many options to choose from, which drives usage and adoption," he said in the release. "In Aroma, we are pleased to provide not just payment, but a built-in loyalty element as well, so that users don't have to carry around punch cards. For the chain, this means that they know the free coffee is really being given to a new customer, or to a customer that has consumed 12 coffees, minimizing the fraud that is always a concern of loyalty program operators."
