DOPO set to open in Salt Lake City

June 25, 2014

DOPO, an Italian fast casual concept restaurant, will open at The Gateway in Salt Lake City this August.

A company press release described DOPO, which means "next" in Italian, as an upscale, live music-oriented restaurant.

"The 'Italian Diaspora' was the substantial migration of Italians from about 1900 to 1950. Not only did Italians populate countries bordering the Mediterranean, but South America as well, where for example, 60 percent of Argentina's population is of Italian descent," said Executive Chef Christian Maymi in a company press release. "DOPO represents what Italians did "NEXT" by absorbing influences of local cuisine, music and culture."

DOPO will feature Mediterranean and Italian fare, live jazz, and 1930's supper club ambiance. Roses, orchids, boutonnieres, Italian chocolate cigars and other items will be available for sale.

The fast casual concept will also offer full-service seating and a take-out counter.
