Dickey's Barbecue to launch diversity program

May 31, 2012

Dickey's Barbecue is introducing a new program aimed at increasing opportunities for minority- and women-owned businesses.

"Dickey's takes our commitment to diversity seriously," said Carlos Reyes, chief financial officer of Dickey's Barbecue Restaurants, Inc. "We are thrilled our national expansion is fueling business growth -- our company benefits from utilizing global partners with diverse backgrounds and experiences."

The Diverse Business Partner Initiative is an economically driven program designed to increase vendor diversity and company contributions to the economic strength and well-being of the communities they serve. With Dickey's 61 percent growth rate in 2011 and continued expansion rate of 55 percent in 2012, the company attempts to energize local economies.

Dickey's Barbecue opened its first location in Dallas in 1941 and began franchising nationwide in 1994. Dickey's has more than 230 locations in 43 states.

"We are committed to improving local economies in areas we are expanding and have systems in place to make sure we strive for vendors with varied demographics," Reyes said.
