Poor sales performance has prompted the closing of 11 Texas Daphne's Mediterranean locations, including six in Austin, which were formerly Noon Mediterranean restaurants.
"While we are very proud of our ability to offer customers in Texas a fun, fresh, and delicious Mediterranean dining experience, we decided that the sales performance of these locations, which were operated by Noon Enterprise LTD, were not up to our expectations," David Eldredge, director of marketing, told FastCasual. "As a result, we decided to close these locations, but are actively pursuing options to grow our business in Texas with Daphne's national development plans in the near future."
The company has 21 units remaining in California.
Noon was initially named VertsKebap, a street food cart enterprise that advanced into restaurant locations throughout Texas and the East Coast. Its name changed to Verts in 2016, and then became Noon Mediterranean in 2017, according to the release. Noon filed for bankruptcy in August, 2018 and was taken over by Daphne's that December, and the locations were re-branded.
Daphne's opened in 1991, in Del Mar, California.
