Corner Bakery Cafe marking World Smile Day with mug giveaway

Special promotion will feature a set of smiley face mugs for the first 50 guests; one to keep, one to share with a friend.

Participating Corner Bakery Cafe locations will give the first 50 guests in line on Oct. 3 a set of two free smiley face mugs.

Guests who receive the bright yellow smiley face mugs can share one with a friend. The mugs can be refilled for 25 cents during visits for the next year.

The promotion is in recognition of World Smile Day, which was established in 1999 by Harvey Ball, the commercial artist who created the iconic yellow "smiley face" design. World Smile Day is the first Friday in October.

"While we share smiles with our guests every day, it's fun to participate in the one day a year dedicated to spreading joy and happiness," CMO Diana Hovey said in a company press release. "We hope these mugs will continue to make our guests smile all year long."

Guests are encouraged to post a picture with their mugs on social media using the hashtag #SmileAtTheCorner.
