The cause of the E. coli and norovirus outbreaks at numerous Chipotle restaurants remains a mystery. According to a Wall Street Journal report, Chipotle stores nationwide will close for several hours on Feb. 8 so that company executives can address employees about the status of the outbreaks and how the restaurant will attempt to prevent foodborne infections from happening again.
Eater reports that the temporary store closings on Feb. 8 are part of the company’s recovery plan. Another element of the plan is giving away free food to customers, according to a CNBC report. The report also stated that Chipotle will begin a new advertising campaign in February and that its stock is down more than 40 percent from last year.
