Chipotle tests vegetarian options, Burritos by the Box

Chipotle Mexican Grill is testing a vegan version of its classic burrito in two locations: one in New York City and the other in Washington, D.C.
 
According to a storyon the Manhattan-focused Web site, DNAinfo.com, Chipotle brought in a host of new ingredients, such as gardein, a vegetable protein that substitutes for chicken, and mushrooms and soy cheese, to make the vegan burrito.
 
The company also is testing a one-type-fits-all Burrito in a Box program in California and Las Vegas.
 
The program is for bulk orders and offers customers a box of six standard burritos, filled with the same ingredients, for $7.30 per person. Each burrito or burrito bowl will come with a bag of chips, sour cream, guacamole and medium green salsa.
