A Chipotle location in Powell, Ohio, has closed after customers claimed online that they became ill after eating there.
"The local health department has informed us of two customer complaints of illness at one restaurant in Powell, Ohio," Laurie Schalow, chief communications officer, wrote in an email to FastCasual, "We acted quickly and closed this single restaurant out of an abundance of caution yesterday. We are working with the local health department and we plan to reopen this restaurant today.”
She also noted that it was an "isolated incident at one restaurant in, Powell, Ohio."
The chain has been struggling with food-safety issues since 2015, and has since implemented safety standards and food-handling procedures in hopes of preventing similar occurrences.
