Chipotle 4Q net up 150 percent

DENVER — Same-store sales at Chipotle Mexican Grill Inc. restaurants open at least a year increased 10 percent during the fourth quarter of 2006, and 13.7 percent for the year.

Revenue for the quarter ended Dec. 31 increased 27 percent to $219.7 million. Net income for the quarter more than doubled to $10.8 million, up from $4.3 million in 4Q '05.

For the year, revenues increased 31 percent to $822.9 million. Net income for the year increased 9 percent to $41.4 million.

Chipotle Mexican Grill opened 94 new restaurants and closed one restaurant in 2006, bringing the company's total to 573 restaurants. The company plans to open around 100 new restaurants in 2007.
