Chick-N-Grill earns Green Restaurant Association certification

August 9, 2009

South Florida-based Chick-N-Grill has become the first Hispanic-owned restaurant chain to be certified by The Green Restaurant Association.

Through their work with the GRA, the four-unit chain has accomplished the necessary steps to certification. These steps included:

1. Installing energy efficient hand dryers
2. Using high efficiency aerators and spray valves in the kitchens
3. Sourcing recycled and chlorine-free napkins
4. Using compostable utensils, to-go containers, and cups

The restaurants also have a comprehensive recycling program and do not use Styrofoam products.

"Chick-N-Grill's four locations have shown their commitment to sustainable practices by earning the Certified Green Restaurant seal," said Michael Oshman, executive director of the Green Restaurant Association. 'We commend Chick-N-Grill for their accomplishments and look forward to continuing to help each location improve their environmental impact."
