Charleys prototype restaurant includes customizable Philly burritos, bowls

Charleys Philly Steaks has opened a new restaurant prototype this week in its hometown of Columbus, Ohio.

With the new prototype, the brand is aiming to “elevate the Philly Cheese Steak” experience, according to a news release. In doing so, customers can now fully customize their Philly Cheese Steak, including as a sandwich, a Philly burrito or a Philly bowl.

The sandwiches will remain the same. The Philly burritos include Charleys French fries served inside a flour tortilla, along with meats, cheese and toppings. The Philly bowl includes a lettuce base, topped with meats and toppings. A variety of vegetable options, including zucchini and Sriracha slaw, is available as well.

The prototype restaurant is also offering a variety of meats, sauces and toppings for Philly customization. Sauces are available at a new “elevated” sauce bar and include nine flavors that can be mixed if desired. Flavors include:  Ranch, Ancho Chipotle, Roasted Red Pepper, Smokey Honey Mustard, Buffalo Sauce, Teriyaki, Cajun, Habanero Chipotle BBQ and Charleys Steak Sauce.    

 “For years Charleys has served delicious Philly Cheese Steaks and we are excited to offer a familiar Cheese Steak in a totally new way.  This revolutionary new restaurant is something that we as Cheese Steak leaders are delighted to bring to the marketplace,” Vice President of Marketing, Kris Miotke, said in the release.

The brand is planning to transition two additional Columbus-area locations to the new concept in the next few months.
