Caribou Coffee wins 2008 Roasters Guild competition

MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. —Local gourmet coffeehouse operator Caribou Coffee won the Roasters Guild 2008 Roasters Choice Tasting Competition at the Specialty Coffee Association of America's (SCAA) 20th Annual Conference & Exhibition in Minneapolis.
The competition featured exceptional coffees from some of the finest coffee roasters throughout the country. The2008 Roasters Choice Tasting Competition winners are:
- Caribou Coffee, Minneapolis — Gold Award winner
- Sweet Maria's, Oakland, Calif. — Silver Award winner
- The Roasterie, Kansas City, Mo. — Bronze Award winner
All Roasters Guild members — about 370 — were invited to participate in the competition by submitting 30 pounds of coffee, which they roasted just prior to the event.To determine a winner, each conference attendee got one chance to vote for the best of the 10 finalists in a blind taste test.
