Caribou Coffee offers free Wi-Fi
August 28, 2006
MINNEAPOLIS — Caribou Coffee, a fast-casual coffeehouse, announced that it will offer free wireless fidelity (Wi-Fi) service for its customers across the United States.
Through a partnership with Wandering WiFi, Caribou Coffee said it is the first in the coffee industry and the largest company-owned retailer to offer a free Wi-Fi service using the latest security technology.
By Sept. 2006, Caribou Coffee customers will have access to the Caribou Coffee sponsored Wi-Fi service at participating locations. Stores in Omaha, Nebraska, served as the test market for the initiative that will extend to all Caribou Coffee stores where fast-access Internet service is available.
Customers will have access to free Wi-Fi during the first hour, and then will be asked to make a minimum $1.50 store purchase, about the price of a small cup of Caribou coffee, for each additional hour to receive a Wi-Fi access code.
