August 26, 2007

ROCKVILLE, Md. — Chain-wide sales for California Tortilla rose nearly 25 percent Aug. 22, 2007, the same day the restaurant chain expected to sell its five millionth burrito, the company announced in a news release.

According to company reports, several stores in the group reported a 40-percent increase over the previous six Wednesdays.

To celebrate the sale of burrito No. 5 million, all customers that day received a coupon for a free burrito, while the first 100 people at each of the 29 locations took home a commemorative T-shirt. The person who ordered the milestone meal won free burritos for a year.
