Bruegger's Bagels has selected the original artwork of Taia Morley of Stillwater, Minnesota, as the winner of its $10,000 Artist Challenge.
As part of the 2014 opening celebration for its new prototype and flagship Commerce Hill bakery in Woodbury, Minnesota, Bruegger's Bagels issued a $10,000 Artist Challenge. The competition sought an original work that conveyed the artist's interpretation of the Bruegger's Bagels brand to complement the bakery's new design. Morley's winning work is now displayed in the Commerce Hill bakery and other select locations nationwide.
"The bagel is the heart and soul of Bruegger's Bagels, and we love how Taia's design conveys that 'bagel world' in a way that is whimsical, original and just a little bit quirky," said Judy Kadylak, vice president of marketing for Bruegger's Bagels, in a company press release. "We received more than 500 entries, and her piece really stood out as a representation of our brand."
The piece is also being used on gift cards, which are currently available in select bakeries nationwide.
In addition to Morley's $10,000 prize, other prizes awarded in the $10,000 Artist Challenge included $500 to a second-place winner, $250 to a third-place winner and one year of free bagels and cream cheese to a fan favorite selected by Facebook fans.
