Boston Starbucks workers aim to unionize

Workers at two Boston-based Starbucks stores filed to unionize Monday just one week after fellow employees in Buffalo unionized the first store in the chain.
The workers, employed at a Starbucks on Commonwealth Avenue and a store at Harvard Street, believe the union effort will boost working conditions and improve industry standards, according to a NBC Bost report.
The Boston employees are aiming to join the Starbucks and Workers United union, created by Buffalo employees.
They sent a letter to Starbucks CEO Kevin Johnson that stated, "Starbucks' mission is improving communities one coffee at a time. Respecting partners rights to organize will help us help the community accomplish this as a mission," according to the news outlet.
In addition, another Buffalo-based store is aiming to unionize and similar activity is taking place at a Mesa, Arizona store.
