Boloco rolls out FourSquare mayor reward

April 19, 2010

In an effort to create tangible perks for FourSquare mayors, Boloco has announced that it has started to develop of a special 4SQ Mayor Boloco Card.

Only 20 will be produced, one for each of the 16 Boloco locations. A card also will be offered to Boston Mayor Thomas Menino; Cambridge, Mass., Mayor David Maher; Concord, N.H., Mayor Jim Bouley; and Burlington, Vt., Mayor Bob Kiss.

Ousted mayors will be obligated to hand over the card, in person, to the newly minted mayor in an effort to transform online connecting into real-life relationships. The 4SQ Mayor Boloco card will be available beginning in early May.

FourSquare is a social, geo-location website where members "check-in" to let their friends know where they are and to let their social networks know what businesses they patronize. People use their mobile devices to communicate with this application, which logs and tracks activities using a phone's GPS capabilities. The person who checks-in the most times is then dubbed "mayor" of that location.
