Massachusetts-based Boloco is celebrating one of Boston's greatest baseball heroes, David Ortiz (nicknamed Big Papi). Ortiz recently announced his retirement following the 2016 season, so Boloco decided to do something special to commemorate his extraordinary career.
According to a recent press release, Boloco partnered with Big Papi's Kitchen and the David Ortiz Children's Fund to present the unique "Big Papi's Kitchen Burrito." For every Big Pappi's Burrito sold, Boloco will donate $1 to the David Ortiz Children's Fund, which provides aid to children needing pediatric care in both New England and the Dominican Republic. The final goal, according to the report, is to raise $34,000 dollars, all of which will be donated to the fund.
"Getting to customize a special burrito for one of our local heroes is a pretty big honor, and to have it go to such a great cause makes it even more special," John Pepper, CEO and co-founder of Boloco, said in the release. "We're all going to have fun making a positive difference this summer. Ortiz is killing it this year, too, which makes it all the better!"
“We are really excited to work with Boloco to launch the Big Papi’s Kitchen Burrito. It is great to see so many local Boston companies show their support and help raise money for the David Ortiz Children’s Fund this season,” said Tiffany Ortiz, board member of the David Ortiz Children’s Fund.
The Big Papi’s Kitchen Burrito is currently at all Boloco locations and will be pulled after the last game of the 2016 season.
