Billabong event benefits Chipotle Cultivate Foundation

June 24, 2012

Billabong has announced that the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation, an organization committed to creating a more sustainable and healthful food supply and to raising awareness concerning food issues, is the beneficiary of this year’s Design for Humanity Event. To kick-off the partnership, Billabong and the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation hosted a farm-to-table dinner June 21 at The Ecology Center, in San Juan Capistrano, Calif.

“We are honored that the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation has been selected as this year’s beneficiary,” said Chipotle's director of communications, Chris Arnold. “Our partnership with Billabong, and their Design for Humanity fundraising efforts, support the foundation’s mission to reach and educate younger generations about food matters, and generate additional support for family farmers and their communities.”

Billabong’s annual Design for Humanity event is a fashion, music and art party on the backlot of Paramount Studios in Hollywood, Calif., featuring multiple concert stages, DJ dance parties, a runway fashion show, organic food trucks, a custom art gallery and silent auction, a VIP street and more. Proceeds from the silent auction and 100 percent of the ticket sales will benefit The Cultivate Foundation.

Chipotle Mexican Grill established the Chipotle Cultivate Foundation in 2011 to extend its commitment to sustainability in foodservice.
