Ben & Jerry's to give away free cones
April 19, 2009
BURLINGTON, Vt. — Ben & Jerry's will celebrate its 31st annual Free Cone Day on April 21 from noon until 8 p.m., the company has announced.
Ben & Jerry's locations also will introduce the company's newest values-led flavor, Chocolate Macadamia. The flavor features fair trade vanilla and chocolate ice cream mixed with sustainably harvested macadamia nuts.
"Our newest flavor intentionally sources ingredients from around the world so that it provides social, economic and environmental benefits by virtue of the way we source them," said CEO Walt Freese. "It proves that thirty years later we can continue to make business decisions that are good for the growers, their families and their communities around the world."
The newest flavors include:
- Chocolate Macadamia: Fair trade chocolate and vanilla ice creams swirled together with fudge-covered macadamia nuts
- Elton John's Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road – Chocolate ice cream, peanut butter cookie dough, butter brickle and white chocolate chunks
- Orange & Cream – Orange sorbet blended with vanilla ice cream
