Barberitos raises funds fast for breast cancer

October 23, 2012

After just a week, 29-unit Barberitos had raised almost $2,000 for its Barberitos Gives Breast Cancer the Boot campaign, according to a company release. Funds will go to the Loran Smith Center for Cancer Support.

Fundraising efforts included a "Throwback for Breast Cancer Event" at the Athens, Ga., location. During the event, founder and CEO Downing Barber was behind the line rolling burritos with wife and CFO Candace Barber, compliance director Noah Brendel, and downtown Athens store owner Keith Neace.

Barberitos also hosted a breast cancer fundraising party at the Barberitos Franchise headquarters in Athens. The party included free food and drinks as well as a performance from the band Debris and Sunny Ortiz from Widespread Panic.

Barberitos has franchise locations in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee and Florida.
