Barberitos Mini Burrito helping control portion sizes

April 10, 2013

The United States is known for its extra-large portion sizes when it comes to food, but as more of the general public becomes aware of the obesity epidemic, smaller portion sizes are making a comeback.

Barberitos is hoping its Mini Burrito will satisfy customers watching their weight, according to a company press release. The Mini is made with a 10-inch tortilla (versus the regular 12-inch version) and has smaller portions of protein and toppings. Those opting for low-carb can get the burrito in a bowl sans tortilla.

The chain also features a "7 Under 7" menu, which serves seven items each under 7 grams of fat, including a mini grilled chicken burrito, jerk fish taco and a variety of salads.

Barberitos has 43 signed restaurant locations, 32 of which are open for business in Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina and Tennessee and Florida.
