Asian Box set to expand in California

July 31, 2012

San-Francisco-based Asian Box has announced its plans for two additional locations in the Bay Area, debuting in Mountain View this fall and Burlingame in early 2013.

The restaurant first opened in spring 2012 in Palo Alto’s Town & Country Village. Under the direction of executive chef Grace Nguyen – formerly of Charles Phan’s acclaimed Slanted Door and Out The Door – Asian Box showcases traditional cooking methods and recipes made with fresh and local ingredients. Even more unique to the concept is that it is a completely gluten-free eatery.

“We received a tremendous response with the opening of the first Asian Box. We not only struck a chord with guests looking for tasty, yet healthy Asian cuisine but also within the gluten-free market," said Frank Klein, founder and CEO of Asian Box and president of FK Restaurants & Hospitality. "We’re pleased to see other restaurants like ShopHouse following us into the gluten-free category. It is not a trend, but rather a necessity for many and with Asian Box, we’ve created a lifestyle brand. It’s truly rewarding to create an environment where those living with gluten intolerance or Celiac disease can dine out.”

Asian Box’s exciting menu offers a variety of options highlighting items guests might find at a street cart. Menu items start at $7.25. Housemade sauces include Miss Jones’ Sriracha, Asian Box Tamarind Vinaigrette, and Asian Street Dust,a top secret blend of herbs and spices. The crown jewel of housemade sauces for Asian Box is the HotBoxIt sauce, made from California-grown Asian peppers.
