92-year-old hot dog concept now franchising
After 92 years in business, Tulsa-based Coney Island Hot Weiner Shop is franchising.
Founded by Greek immigrant, Christ Economou in 1926, in downtown Tulsa, the brand is seeking entrepreneurs to help it grow to 500 locations over the next 10 years across the U.S. and internationally.
"Coney Island Hot Weiner Shop has spent the last 92 years perfecting our brand and business model. The timing is right to bring our pioneering fast casual brand to the world," Vicki Economou, managing partner of CVE, owner of the brand, said in a company press release. "Coneys possess the unique ability to be instantly recognizable and familiar with families in any market across the U.S. This is a 92-year-old track record of success for potential investors. After nine decades, this is just the beginning," she said.
"We look forward to expanding through franchise partnerships that will be able to take advantage of our incredible history, unique business model, with exceptional unit economics," David Rutkauskas, managing partner of DCR Management, the firm hired to franchise Coney Island Hot Weiner Shop.
