January is National Soup Month, and to celebrate, Zoup! Eatery is delivering 100 Zoup! Rescue Care Packages across the United States and Ontario, Canada, according to a company press release.
Each package contains a bowl of soup, a hunk of bread and a beverage, and can be picked up or delivered by Zoup! to a deserving party who has been nominated by a friend or loved one. To nominate someone to receive a Rescue Care Package, visit any Zoup! restaurant to submit an entry or visit zoup.com/rescue. Nominations are reviewed daily and deliveries are made as often as normal business will allow.
"The promotion is intended to celebrate the healing power of soup, and the 'comfort and warmth it brings'," Zoup! Eatery founder and CEO Eric Ersher said in the release. "If you know someone who's under the weather, recovering from illness or is going through a rough time, our Rescue Care Packages can really brighten their day."
To help spread the word, Zoup! Eatery is teaming up with high-profile parties including the NBA's Detroit Pistons, and is providing lunches to the hard-working staff of local food banks in 10 cities including Cleveland Foodbank Inc., Food Bank of the Rockies-Western Slope, Feeding America West Michigan Food Bank, Food Bank of Delaware and Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank.
The effort is part of the Zoup! to the Rescue program, which began in 2011 as a way to demonstrate its commitment to giving back to the community.
"The Zoup! to the Rescue program has been a huge success, due to Zoup! Eatery locations being locally owned," said Christina Trecapelli, director of franchise marketing. "Our franchise owners have a sincere desire to help in the communities where they live and connect with guests on another level."
Founded in 1998, Zoup! has more than 100 units.
