Yoshinoya, a Japanese fast casual concept, has opened its 101st location in Compton, California, featuring its first double drive-thru.
The 2,193-square-foot restaurant, located at 1821 N. Long Beach Blvd., combines the chain's signature beef bowls and other Japanese-inspired dishes with an innovative design aimed at improving speed and convenience.
"Our newest Compton opening represents a pivotal step in Yoshinoya's growth, unveiling the brand's most innovative store design to date," Paul Nishiyama, president of Yoshinoya America, said in a company press release. "By enhancing speed, value and the overall guest experience while also honoring the community's storied history, we're setting a new standard for how Yoshinoya shows up in the neighborhoods we serve."
Beyond the store design, the location celebrates the Compton community with a large-scale mural painted by local artist Mel Depaz, 27, a Compton native. The mural, visible from Long Beach Boulevard, captures the spirit of the city by highlighting beloved landmarks and businesses. An interior mural by Depaz is also featured inside the restaurant.
"Creating public art in my hometown is deeply personal," Depaz said in the release. "I'm especially honored to partner with a legendary brand like Yoshinoya, one that understands the power of local pride and is investing in Compton in a meaningful, lasting way."
The location is open daily from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m. and serves a menu that includes the chain's Gyudon beef bowls, teriyaki chicken bowls and crispy tempura shrimp.
