Winter menus feature comfort food, hearty options

Chilly weather means hearty menu options.

With temperatures plummeting, restaurants are heating up their winter menus with hearty, comforting offerings. A sampling of winter menus rolling out across the country:

Zoup!is highlighting an unusual ingredient for National Soup Month – rattlesnake. Zoup! will add Rattlesnake Stew to its rotation the week of Jan. 19. The stew features rabbit and rattlesnake sausage, peppers, brown rice and spices.

Chipotle Shrimp Bisque will also join the lineup. The bisque is a creamy tomato soup with shrimp, peppers and vegetables blended to a puree.

Bruegger's Bagels is bringing back some seasonal guest favorites and introducing two new sandwiches to the winter menu: The Benedict and Classic Grilled Cheese.

The Benedict is Bruegger's Bagels' version of eggs Benedict, featuring a cracked egg, Canadian bacon and hollandaise sauce on a toasted plain bagel.

The new Classic Grilled Cheese sandwich features Muenster and cheddar cheeses on buttered sourdough bread.

Throughout the season, the bakery will also continue to offer the Pastrami, Egg and Swiss sandwich that debuted this past fall. Breugger's is also bringing back Maple Cream Cheese, French Toast Coffee and the 12-Grain Bagel.

The winter menu is available at bakeries nationwide through April 7.

Fazoli's three new Ultimate Bakes are now available for a limited time at only $6.99. Varieties include:

  • Loaded Pizza Bake: spaghetti with marinara sauce, pepperoni, Italian sausage, mushrooms, black olives and bruschetta tomatoes.
  • Creamy Chicken Alfredo Bake: fettuccini in an Alfredo sauce, diced chicken tenders, basil pesto drizzle, bacon pieces and bruschetta tomatoes.
  • Ultimate Crispy Chicken Penne Bake: penne pasta with diced crispy chicken, Alfredo sauce, garlic butter flavor, seasoned broccoli and bacon pieces.

All three are topped with shredded mozzarella and provolone cheeses.

Fazoli's is also offering Red Velvet Cheesecake for $2.99 at participating locations, while supplies last.

The New Miami Subs Grill and new Miami Grill brand restaurants are kicking off the New Year with a limited time Raising the "Steaks" promotional offer now through Feb. 28. Raising the "Steaks" features seven six-inch Philly Cheesesteaks with a complimentary side of choice starting at $4.99, about 20 percent off the usual price:

  • The Original – grilled marinated steak with grilled onions smothered in Swiss American cheese ($5.49)
  • The Classic – grilled marinated steak served with onions, green peppers, sautéed mushrooms and Swiss American cheese ($5.49)
  • The Works – grilled marinated steak served with green peppers, sautéed mushrooms, lettuce, onions, tomatoes, and Swiss American cheese topped with whipped mayonnaise ($5.49)
  • Fajita Cheesesteak – grilled marinated steak, onions, green peppers and chipotle BBQ sauce, topped with shredded cheddar cheese and diced tomatoes ($5.49)
  • Italian Cheesesteak – grilled marinated steak, onions and Provolone cheese, topped with marinara sauce and Parmesan cheese ($5.49)
  • Nacho Ordinary – grilled marinated steak with onions, jalapeños, nacho cheese and onion rings ($5.49)
  • The Chicken Philly – grilled seasoned chicken with grilled onions, green peppers and sautéed mushrooms smothered in Swiss American cheese ($4.99)
