Wingstop's spreading its wings

August 29, 2013

Wingstop served up one of its busiest growth months in company history, opening 10 stores in August alone. The news comes on the heels of a 10.3-percent increase in same-store sales in the second quarter, according to a company press release.

San Diego, Baltimore, Phoenix, Atlanta, Chicago, Milwaukee, San Francisco and Columbus, Ohio, each welcomed new locations. The chicken chain is on track to finish the year with 70 new U.S. locations while focusing on an expanded presence in the Northeast and Southeast. With nearly 600 locations already open, Wingstop is well on its way to its goal of reaching 1,000 locations in five years. Included are international agreements to expand into Russia, Singapore, and Mexico with commitments to open 400 locations worldwide.

"Our incredible growth over the past year is proof that demand for our great tasting chicken wings is getting even hotter," said Charlie Morrison, Wingstop president and CEO. "Thanks to our awesome brand partners and talented support staff, we are ready to keep expanding."
